DIY - Neon Jewel Earrings

Thursday, 21 March 2013

As spring is proving somewhat elusive, why not make some bright jewel earrings to add some cheer to dreary days. These jewel earrings are really simple and really quick to make - they can be made in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. I know that there are loads of shop versions around but I always think making them yourself is so much more satisfying and you get full control over the colour combinations, as I love light bright colours (see logo) I couldn't resist these mint, neon and pink jewels and can't wait to give them a whirl. Steps are below
 You'll need:
Super glue
Gem stones*
Large Diamante Chain*
Earring backs
* I found these in my favourite ever trimmings shop but check your local haberdashery for large chain and stones or try Ebay.
Step 1. Cut your chain to the desired length (odd numbers look better than even)

Step 2. Decide on your design and then add super glue to all sides that will touching

Step 3. Leave the super glue to dry for a minute or so and then stick all your gems together. Leave to dry for a good 10 minutes. Don't get super glue on your jeans, it makes the fabric crack and leaves a hole, I have learnt this the hard way.

Step 4. Apply a bit of glue to the earring back and chain, glue together and leave to dry.

Now all you need to do is wear and wait for the sun to come out. Happy making!

These are so cute, lovely idea. We do need something to cheer up this dreary weather. It looks like it is going to be bad over the weekend. I've been looking for stones like these, I've obviously not been looking hard enough! Where did you get them?

I have put a link to the site in the post, the shop doesn't sell online so you have to go in person which is very very dangerous! X

Another good thing in buying and wearing trendy beaded jewelry is you do not want to spend thousands of greenbacks to have people who will appreciate your look and your image. Fashionable beaded jewelry like necklaces, earrings and bracelets are available in wide variety of styles and designs. You'll only spend one or two dollars to few hundred bucks depending on the kind of materials you select for your jewelry.
